This is the BEST greenhouse video I have seen made step by step. Ive seen dozens of them and you really keep it simple, concise, clear and best of all inexpensive. Im making one this fall. Thank you!
You can make the door swing out. It would make more room, but swinging in hasn't been a problem for me, and this year I raised 1200+ seedlings in there.
My brother Tim followed your plans for this green house and made one for me, I was so surprised when he gifted it to me I cried. I love it, and it held up no problem through the Minnesota winter.
I agree with changing the door to open out. Put a small doo stop on the three sides that dont have hinges. Will keep stress off of the hinges and keep winter winds from blowing door open. Great idea.
I Love mine. Built the first one 3 panels long last fall. It had snow almost 2/3 of the way up the sides with the winter we had in NH, but it held together well. I still remember having to step down into the greenhouse. That is one time the inward swinging door helps. If I had to shovel snow to get in, I would have never made it in till spring.. I am now building #2 as an attachment to a shed. You will walk into the shed then take a left into the greenhouse. I used raised wooden walls 2 feet high in order to get enough height to go 10 feet wide. It is coming together nicely, but with 4 panels long I find my modified version needs a little extra support to avoid bowing in the middle. Well worth my $5 investment. Thanks for such great videos and instructions..
+Blueberryjoefarms Yep... I would think that a 4 panel one might need a little support in the middle. I haven't built one that long yet. Glad I could help. Thanks for the kind words!
Texas Prepper, 4 years later, yours is still the best video out there. I'm going to put mine onto some 3x5x3 crates I've turned onto raised beds, end to end. When I get my 2nd row of crates in, I'll put a Texas Prepper green house on top and have a 10x15 greenhouse with earth mass for our North Idaho climate. I've seen other videos mentioning your video, too. Thanks for inspiring so many of us to go ahead and build our dreams.

Thank you for sharing. I am always impressed with the creative ways you have used everyday materials to solve problems. You greenhouse is the best one I have seen, so ingenious.
I built one! And yes it was pretty easy. I had to have help from my sons to bend the cattle panels enough for the base, but that was all of the help I needed. The rest I was able to do by myself, which in itself is pretty impressive for someone with limited physical ability. Thank you for taking the time to put this on youtube and inspiring me and everyone that sees it to make their own. BTW I used pool noodles instead of the rolled insulation, and it worked great as well. Thank you!
I bought your plans and built this greenhouse on my deck last spring to do hydroponics in it. I've been nothing but pleased with its performance. It is beyond sturdy and durable. I can't wait to start planting in it again this year. Thanks!
TXP2, I built mine a few weeks ago thanks to your video and ebook. I have never in my 42 years taken on a project like this. I am happy I did and well on my way to hydroponicking in my green house. Much to my wife's chagrin I want to build one that 4 panels long!! keep up the videos I have used you infused pepper recipe as well and that came out awesome as well!!

Thanks to you for this post! I did my greenhouse with two cattle panels and it is a very good plan and stood up well to the Minnesota winter despite poor quality poly. Got the good stuff (poly) this year and I am going to do it up proper and am looking forward to the growing season! Thanks again for the idea!

Paul Ladendorf The Greenhouse will cost about $150, depending on materials costs. The panels (here) are about $18... but in some places they are much higher.
i have finished building my greenhouse and i am ready to grow in fall / winter and starting seedlings off early in Late January. thanks for you video posts
Great concept. Here is something you might consider. If you dropped the hight to 4 - 5 ft but configured the plastic covered screen so that you could lift it from one side to tend to your plants; the need for a door would be eliminated. Space for planting would be maximized. Cost of materials would be reduced. Weight would be reduced. Because your not using traditional PVC ribing, the wire mesh structure would provide a rigid means for gaining access to one side of the greenhouse, much like a hood to a car. I'll be your first customer.
Hmmm seems like any entry point is going to have to be clear of plants to ENTER ...so what are you saving really by eliminating a real door? Or do you mean simply never entering IN just tending from the sides??
nice! LoVve this! I'm tall, so when I build it I will build it the very same only I will set it up on a some cinder blocks and wrap it round with more plastic :) thanks for the video! ~YHWH Bless
Thanks .... I have been looking at many different designs and Liked this one the best . I plan on making it bigger ... But am going to use the same design and put a solar panel , Lights and a fan for better air movement when it gets too hot inside . You also gave me a great idea on how to open the front of my enclosed patio by removing the the front wall and replacing it with that wire structure and putting screening over it to allow air in during the Spring and Summer months and keeping the bugs out .... that tend to eat us alive . Great Stuff ..... as my friend always says .
I like the solar idea......I am going to build this in April 2018. I think I may go solar as well since I get sun in my spot from the time the sun rises till it sets!!!
@@BIGALTX put small door stops top and bottom on side opposite of hinges. Will most likely make a better seal around door edges, preserve heat... and less risk of door getting blown open in wind if it opens outwards. Gives lot more working room inside and lets you keep door open in warmer temps if you need to work inside.
A bit easier way to know if it's square is the 3-4-5 method. Pick a corner and measure from the corner down one side 3 feet. Then from the same corner measure along the front 4 feet. If i's square it will measure 5 feet between the two other measured points. You can then do the opposite diagonal corner. This helps if you do this as you are laying out the boards to know if you have them square from the get go.
While I love the simplistic design of these green houses, I would like to issue a word of caution to those who live in areas that are subject to gusty winds! I live in an area that can get pretty windy at times. I had a chicken coop that was built in almost the same manor. It did pretty well with our normal breezy weather but failed spectacularly one afternoon. Unfortunately I had a small flock of 4 week old chicks in it when it went. The wind had picked it up and chucked it down to the next road. Thankfully no human was injured when it went! the only casualty was my poor little baby Louie that had his leg fractured. He is OK he just has a stumpy short leg and runs funny because of it. Anyway for those who live in a area that gets windy stake them to the ground well! I wish that I had staked mine better. I should have taken the hint when the wind moved it 10" sideways one day. Don't take the chance, stake them down! Also if your going to be moving yours around I suggest that you add corner braces to stiffen the bottom wood frame after you secure the cattle panels. otherwise they can have a tendency to rack when you move them.
TexasPrepper2 I was going to suggest the same thing brother. I used 4 tie down augers (Wal-Mart, $4 each) and heavy duty cargo straps to tie down my Lance Cab Over Camper while it's off the truck and in the back yard. A couple years ago a tornado passed close to my house. Lost a couple 80 ft. pine trees and some very large tree limbs, but the camper didn't budge. I'm sold. By the way, excellent design on that greenhouse.
Slight issue that I have with the door......it swings in.........I would rather have it swing out, so that you do not lose any usable space on the inside. With the door swinging in, any shelves that you place in there would have to be move down on the right hand side so you would have room to go in.
+Regina Leathers I let the excess plastic drape over my door opening, attached at the top of the door with a strip of wood, then used scissors to cut vertical slits in the plastic about 6" apart and use that as my door, move it aside to exit or enter and it falls back into place as a door closure
How does your house door open? If you live in perfect conditions, maybe you could do a door your way. But for those of us that need one get snow and his plans work. Besides, the knob cost nothing his way. Great video!
Living at 8000 ft our growing season is short and frosts are late in the spring and early in the gal! I'm so excited about doing this project. And thanks for posting, studing for 4 days off & on day & night.
It is 50" high and 16 feet long. You will need 16 feet to get a 6'2" height (if you make it 7' wide) The e-Book or PDF will explain it all if you are interested. Links are below the video. They include materials list and drawings. thanks
@@OfftoShambala If you need it higher you can also use 2x6's and stack them using some metal wood joints and then staple the panel higher. Probably could make it a full 8 foot wide that way and still end up with your 6'6" height.
WOW! Watched this when it first came out. It was the original. Now working towards 2 million views. Wonderful. I make the door just as it is in the video. when it snows you can still get in without a worry!
E. TX You might want to use some auger type tie-downs... but the plastic would hold up better than a regular rib-type greenhouse. The wind seems to just roll over the rounded top, and since the plastic pushes in on the panels, it doesn't seem to tear. Something to look at: Are there any greenhouses in your area? Does the plastic rip in the wind? Check out greenhouses around you and see how they fare. The only thing that I see as destructive (besides a tornado) is hail. It WILL rip the plastic...
I bought a huge roll several years ago that will do 5-6 of these greenhouses. I bought it from a greenhouse supply store near me. It is supposed to be UV resistant, 5-6 year plastic. I am on my 3rd year. The plastic is a little "milky" and not as "clear" as it was, but is still pretty well intact. hope that helps...

I built my greenhouse following your plans three years ago. I used greenhouse grade plastic film rated for 5 years and it shows no wear or tear.Wind doesn't seem to be a problem at all. it blows right over the top. It was fairly easy to build and is easy to move around. One thing that I have learned is that it doesn't need to be air tight, you need ventilation in the summer. it will get hot inside but by opening the top window vent and your door you get a good air flow and it will lower the temperature.Thank you for posting this great video.Another use for it is a Halloween haunted house. The kids in the neighborhood that would go in it loved it
I really like how you incorporated the shelf into it. It'd be easy to add a lower shelf as well. I plan on building a 50-60 foot one. However, I'm going to make mine on top of sing up side doors. So, I get even more ventilation, and it will be taller as well. I'm going to have a prep. table, starter shelves, but also just ground that I can plant directly in, and use as a high tunnel. Thanks for sharing. You just can't beat the cattle panels for stability, especially how they keep the plastic from being torn by the wind. On my neighbors 100' high tunnel, he has to use straps to strap it down and it still gets ripped, and they paid like $8,000 for it... crazy how this simple idea works better then the expensive ones... just love these.... thanks again for sharing... blessings.
Well, thanks for the confirmation. So many have built this design and have commented as to the stability of it. Let me know how it goes with the "Mother of all Cattle Panel Greenhouses" 😎👍
Just thought I'd let you know that I did get mine built, my brother built 1 as well. I went with 4 panels and 8' wide but built on raised beds so I still have good height. My plants are growing well, it's still early here, planting was just 3 weeks ago, so they are really just getting going. Next year, hopefully, I'll be able to get an earlier start, now that I have it built.
I've been making cattle panel hoop houses for years and never thought to put the foam pipe insulation over the ends. That's pretty genius, I'm too lazy to file the sharp points off. Thanks!
fyi I did the three panels, both of the long boards bowed, so I had to add to reinforcement boards inside laying flat (2x4) to pull it back in. I got all the staples done today! You make it look so easy in the video! Anywayz tomorrow I start on the first end! I cant wait to get r done!
After watching, I bought his pdf plans for $5.00. Well worth it. Can make a greenhouse or many other multi-purpose small temporary sheds or covers with a little imagination.
It's a good solid design... As I am sure this has already been stated somewhere in the comments, I will mention again, that the Window hinge should open the window to the inside so it will not catch rain and funnel it into your space. Secondly the door should obviously swing outwards, as hinging it inwards causes and immediate 25% loss of the inside usable area, based on a door width of about 36 inches............ You have made me want to construct my own and I'm glad to have seen your build... Thank you.
Love it! Not intimidating at all, since this would be my first greenhouse, if I choose this design. Looks so easy. I gotta do this. I gotta get started. I could be enjoying food out my greenhouse right now.
Slick. Very clever use of the handy cattle panel. My back yard is so small I have to back up to change my mind. I'd build one of these things if I could make it work. This is very ingenious.
So glad to see this simple design! Thank you for doing this! I just purchased the PDF off paypal. Tried to leave a comment on your site but didn't see a place to do that. You may have stopped them. $5.00 is a small price to pay for something that will last year's and help bring in a lot of food and flowers! Again, Thanks so much!
I'm building a milking shed using cattle panels covered with a tarp for the roof and pallets for the sidewalls. I had thought to get pool noodles to protect the corner s but had questions about how to stretch and secure the tarp roof. Thank you for all the simple and practical solutions to my last few questions.
Great Video! I have been researching how to have a space for a greenhouse and this is the perfect answer to that question of "where do I start". Midlothian gets a ton of wind and after reading the comments from better informed watchers I would definitely invest in a way to secure the structure from the wind. Thanks for your ideas and efforts to share .Keep up the super work
It all depends on what is growing inside. Some plants love the heat and will thrive at 100+. Others would fry at those temps. I usually grow spinach, broccoli, lettuce etc in the winter. Then... I use the greenhouse to grow seedlings in the late winter/spring to get them ready to go into the ground.
I think I would have had the door opening out so that all the inside would be more usable.I'd also probably set a 1x2 on the inside of the door to avoid drafts in early spring. Much better design than pvc, especially in areas where there is wind and snow. Pipe covers are ingenious and I like the way the window in the back opens out to let heat escape. Beautiful video, thank you so much.
TexasPrepper2 Hi!! have not watched this and was looking for you. Do you think this idea would work as a wood shed? or do you have a better wood shed idea? Thanks so much this is the best most affordable one on youtube. Peace.
HighConsciousness1 I think it would work fine... the only thing is that since it is built in an arch, the wood would have to be stacked differently... (i guess)...It's plenty sturdy (snow load etc).
Cool video dude, but as for your design, I know many people here in FL and GA that has been building the same structure for decades. They use them for anything from a temporary greenhouse to an aviary.

Larry Anderson Interesting...
Hmmm seems like any entry point is going to have to be clear of plants to ENTER ...so what are you saving really by eliminating a real door? Or do you mean simply never entering IN just tending from the sides??
nice!
LoVve this!
I'm tall, so when I build it I will build it the very same only I will set it up on a some cinder blocks and wrap it round with more plastic :)
thanks for the video!

This is great. I just discovered all the uses of cattle panels. We are building a shelter for our chickens now. Next spring comes the green house.
Built mine yesterday can't wait to get the plastic on it and plants inside your the man I wanna grow up to be just like you
I checked it out... SWEET !
"Check for square".
Looks round to me. :-D
I lost a lot of space with the door opening inwards...I changed the door to open outside and tripled my room to move
cygerwoods1 Good idea... my next one will swing out
@@BIGALTX put small door stops top and bottom on side opposite of hinges.
This is a splendid size for smaller backyards. Thank you very much.
Glad to help!
Thanks bro...your design with the cow panel....got our family eating home grown vegetables...God Bless You Texas Prepper.
+Showemright YTchannel
That means a LOT to me... thanks !
Jayknee Garner I linked to some "tie down" augers under the video... and yes, some folks might want to secure them.
Better safe than sorry! I unfortunately am the latter. I do like your design and may build one myself when I have the funds available.
Grandpa the Grey Thanks Gramps !
dude sounds like Matthew Mcconaughey lol
XxSrelhowxX cc
that's 'cause it's him making himself a fine piece of a greenhouse :P
XxSrelhowxX YES! I said the same thing lol
Cuz Matthew McConaughey is from Texas
9:30, why open inwards instead of outwards? Would make more room, wouldn't it?
Inward is better if you have any snow. Lol, talking from experience.
Two thousand comments! You are a master of youtube! Congrats on making the world a better place.
Wow, thank you so much!
Hubby and I just built this greenhouse with a few modifications ( like swing out door). it is awesome!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing.
You bet... Glad to help !
Good job guy.
Slight issue that I have with the door......it swings in.........I would rather have it swing out, so that you do not lose any usable space on the inside. With the door swinging in, any shelves that you place in there would have to be move down on the right hand side so you would have room to go in.
***** change the direction as to which the hinges swing open,,
+John Pulliam Hey John I was thinking the same thing. I am going to have my door open out. No sense wasting space.
+Regina Leathers I let the excess plastic drape over my door opening, attached at the top of the door with a strip of wood, then used scissors to cut vertical slits in the plastic about 6" apart and use that as my door, move it aside to exit or enter and it falls back into place as a door closure

Door should open out to save floor space
Absolutely correct.
I've been researching into survival and found a fantastic resource at Micaden survive system (google it if you're interested)
Except if you will be opening it in snow.
i agree
How does your house door open? If you live in perfect conditions, maybe you could do a door your way. But for those of us that need one get snow and his plans work. Besides, the knob cost nothing his way. Great video!
This looks really great! It is one of the best ideas I ever seen so far and affordable. Thanks for sharing.
Living at 8000 ft our growing season is short and frosts are late in the spring and early in the gal! I'm so excited about doing this project. And thanks for posting, studing for 4 days off & on day & night.
It is 50" high and 16 feet long. You will need 16 feet to get a 6'2" height (if you make it 7' wide)
The e-Book or PDF will explain it all if you are interested. Links are below the video. They include materials list and drawings.
thanks
Great thanks... I need 6’ 6” height... 16’ length is Long enough ... would give enough width for the length of a tunnel.
@@OfftoShambala If you need it higher you can also use 2x6's and stack them using some metal wood joints and then staple the panel higher. Probably could make it a full 8 foot wide that way and still end up with your 6'6" height.
@@Paula-mf7cf or you can make a ladder type frame on iits side.
Now I can grow weed, jk😂
door needs to open out not in.
+Dean Hudson That thought occured to me as well. Should be just as easy to build.
+Dean Hudson in Canada I think this would be smarter, too much snow on the outside if you chose to keep this in winter to open the door out!
+Tara Lynn
makes sense

I like the way that came out. I'm going to add this video to "Watch Later" so I can rewatch when I have all the parts. Thanks for uploading.
WOW! Watched this when it first came out. It was the original. Now working towards 2 million views. Wonderful. I make the door just as it is in the video. when it snows you can still get in without a worry!

You might want to use some auger type tie-downs... but the plastic would hold up better than a regular rib-type greenhouse.
A much better idea then what I had in my head. Thanks for taking the time to share!
Clever idea. Innovative use of inexpensive materials. Looks durable as well.
This is my favorite design by far for my intended use ...love it!!
So glad you like it!
Plans are below the video.
They will save you time and $
@@BIGALTX Thanks!! Much appreciated!
Thanks we are building a green house where we tore down and old shed using cattle panels.
Love it! This I can do on my own! My husband writes heartbreakingly beautiful poetry, but his fingers seem to suddenly transform into thumbs when he puts down his pen to 'help me' in the garden. Of course he thinks I am exaggerating. ...😄🌷🍀 My hubbie thanks you too for letting him off the hook!
Glad to help.

Thanks for your purchase. Glad I could help! Enjoy. 😎
After over a dozen videos, I'm done. I love this idea, it's perfect for my situation and budget. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge.
You bet... Glad to help.

Thank you! Perfect size for our small backyard but big enough to start and grow small scale in winter. 9 hear old daughter has been begging for a greenhouse. She will get one now!
Excellent!
There are links to the eBook and a PDF (if you want to print it out) below the video.
They are inexpensive and should save you time and money

Thank you so much for sharing this DIY video, which is by far the best vid I could find on the Internet ! This will help me build a small and sturdy greenhouse myself !
You're welcome !

This was the basic inspiration for my greenhouse 9 years ago, I did plant propagation flowers and shrubs..
Wow... really glad I could help... thanks for sharing!
The kids in the neighborhood that would go in it loved it
Thanks for the kind words.
The GH design seems to work in ALL climates and high wind areas.
Thanks!
This is what we are going to build as soon as the snow melts. Thanks!
Hope you enjoy it!
I have plans and materials list below the video... check it out!
fyi I did the three panels, both of the long boards bowed, so I had to add to reinforcement boards inside laying flat (2x4) to pull it back in. I got all the staples done today! You make it look so easy in the video! Anywayz tomorrow I start on the first end! I cant wait to get r done!
It warmed my heart that he knew the word “darts”.
Hahaha... My wife used to sew... 👍😎
Thanks, I just got the kindle version so my husband can read it on his phone. Gotta spread the prepper chores out between us!
Thank YOU !
Wow it is the best!
This is a genius design for a quick storage building or greenhouse.
After watching, I bought his pdf plans for $5.00. Well worth it. Can make a greenhouse or many other multi-purpose small temporary sheds or covers with a little imagination.
Thank you so much. Not only did you guide me to our greenhouse, but also another one covered with chicken wire for our hens.
Excellent !
So glad I could help...
Thank you.
Thank you sir...and yes, the next one I build will have the door and window swing as you described.
Thanks so much.
Literally thousands of them have been built :)
Thanks for the kind words.
Hope you got your PDF all right.
Send me pictures!
I'm building a milking shed using cattle panels covered with a tarp for the roof and pallets for the sidewalls. I had thought to get pool noodles to protect the corner s but had questions about how to stretch and secure the tarp roof.
Thank you for all the simple and practical solutions to my last few questions.
So glad to help.
Should make a nice milking shed.
I had a sheep shed for years made like this. 😎
Great Video! I have been researching how to have a space for a greenhouse and this is the perfect answer to that question of "where do I start". Midlothian gets a ton of wind and after reading the comments from better informed watchers I would definitely invest in a way to secure the structure from the wind. Thanks for your ideas and efforts to share .Keep up the super work
Lots of folks have used something like these in high wind areas:
amzn.to/2Bsl5f4
Beautiful video, thank you so much.
this is the best DIY green house i have seen
it's so aesthetically pleasing too! Good work!
XplaneZ Thanx !
TexasPrepper2 Hi!! have not watched this and was looking for you. Do you think this idea would work as a wood shed? or do you have a better wood shed idea? Thanks so much this is the best most affordable one on youtube. Peace.
HighConsciousness1
I think it would work fine... the only thing is that since it is built in an arch, the wood would have to be stacked differently... (i guess)...It's plenty sturdy (snow load etc).
Thank you for taking the time to make this helpful video. great job in showing the details.
My mom and I are wanting to use these plans so we paid for the PDF. Just waiting to receive them. Thank you so much!
Sorry I didn't see the notice. I was outside mowing.
I just sent the PDF.... and Thanks Again !
Cool video dude, but as for your design, I know many people here in FL and GA that has been building the same structure for decades. They use them for anything from a temporary greenhouse to an aviary.
very nice video, really enjoyed, my son told me about your video, guess tomorrow going to pick up cattle panels, Thank You for all the info!!!!
I am from brazil and i love this greenhouse!
That was very clever in design, one of the best for your money I have ever seen. Well done mate
Thank you very much!
